Lowest Common Multiple
The smallest common multiple of two or more numbers is called the lowest common multiple (LCM).
E.g. Multiples of 9 are 9, 18, 27, 36, …
Multiples of 16 are 16, 32 , 48, 64 …

In general:
To find the lowest common multiple (LCM) of two or more numbers, list the multiples of the larger number and stop when you find a multiple of the other number. This is the LCM.

144
LCM is the least integer which is a multiple of given integers - LCM (16, 9) = 144

NB Some people here do seem to confuse it with the greatest common divisor. This is the greatest integer which is a divisor of given positive integers - GCD (16, 9) = 1

LCM or lowest common multiple, is the smallest quantity that is divisible by two or more given quantities without a remainder.
So to make this easy, make a list:
16: 1,2,4,8,16.
9: 1,3,9
The only number that they share is the number 1. Therefore, the LCM of 16&9 is 1.
