Radio Stations are at an all-time low, you can buy one for a song,
you buy the license and broadcast what you want, under certain existing FCC rules & regs. Probably on Long Island, they are not so cheap, and then you have to sell some commercial time to pay for your programming and employees, the various licensing, etc. unless you plan on spinning cd's all by yourself 24 hours a day. That would leave you with no time to sell the commercials. Check out the for sale ads in a publication like Broadcasting Magazine if you can get just a very few bucks together. You will see pricing is related to location, wattage, daytime only or 24 hours, etc.

I think there are certain low power frequencies available, but you'd have to apply for a license with the FCC. I have heard of "pirate" stations out of homes, but I have no idea how this works, and they are in fact, illegal.

Maybe contact the owner of a local radio station and make an appointment with him/her and pose your question to someone who really knows.

Talk to the FCC and expect to have a few million in your pocket.
