I have to get cells removed sometime in the next few weeks. But due to other health issues my attendance at work has not been the greatest. my boss said if I miss another day Im fired, even if I'm very sick. But the time I get the cells removed will be on a workday. I am scared I'm only in my twenties.

Screw your boss and get this done. Your health is more important than a job. You only have your health in the end. Jobs come and go in your life. Good Luck!

Most dr's have evening hours. Why don't you schedule for 5ish or later on a friday so you have the weekend to recover? Then you only have to ask for getting out early & trade that for coming in early to make up the time. & show your boss a docters note.

If your boss fires you then you might have a case under the family & medical leave act. But I wouldn't pull that card out unless it's water tight open & shut.

I don't know why you have missed so much work in the past. But that is most likely why your boss isn't very sympathtic right now. I guess it's a case of "the employee who cried wolf". It's not personal, but anybody knows a b.s. sniffle & cough on the phone. & if you need to get a job done & the people you have working for you don't show to do it for rediculous reasons.... you get my drift.

Even though you may have a case your previous attendance record kinda takes away some of the rightousness and being wronged by your boss... which if taken to court might break your case. I'm not generally a big advocate of suing unless there has been a grevious wrong done. & from the little details you provided I would say that if you do get fired, even after my suggestion at the top.... you should lump it into life experience & move on to the next job & not call off as much.

Good luck to you. I hope you end up healthy.

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requires companies with 50 or more employees (working within a 75-mile radius) to allow an employee to take unpaid time off of work because of the birth or adoption of a child, the employee's own serious health condition, or the need to care for a seriously ill child, spouse or parent.
What is a serious health condition for purposes of the FMLA? Unfortunately, this is not well defined under the law. Illnesses such as upset stomach, common cold, or non-migraine headaches may not qualify. If the medical condition requires hospitalization or requires bed rest under the supervision and care of a physician for more than three calendar days, the condition will most likely be considered a serious medical condition.

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. My fiance is 27 years old and he has cancer as well and has undergone 18 months worth of chemotherapy and also some radiation treatments. First of all, your health is WAY more important than any job, even a "dream job". Secondly, it is absolutely ILLEGAL for your boss to fire you due to an illness. You may need to get a doctor's excuse or even have your doctor call your boss, but he cannot fire you... and if he does, call a lawyer immediately.
No matter what, please seek medical treatment and take care of yourself! It's the most important thing you can do for yourself and your life. If you need any support or further advice while you are going through this, please feel free to contact me.
Good luck to you, honey!

I would go get the cells removed. Your boss has no just reason to fire you if it a serious health issue, and your future health is more important than a your job

The Family Leave Act will protect your job. Employers are legally required to give you time off for illness, injury or other personal issues, up to 12 weeks, and they have to let you return to your job in your regular position or a comparible one at the same pay rate. Tell your boss you want to take some time off under the Family Leave Act. If he still threatens to fire you, you can always sue him.

Tell you doctor and see if other off work arrangements can be made. If not, talk with your human resource department. You might just ask you boss to pick a day for you to have this done.

I've been a boss. There's nothing worse than an employee who calls in sick all the time or at key times when staffing is critical. Work with your boss. If your story is on the up and up, and you're worth keeping around, they'll work with you.

Good luck with your health issues and future employment.

Go the the Equal Opportunity Employment Agency in your city and explain what is happening. They will give you advice on what steps you can take to prevent from being fired, or talk to an attorney. If your employer has over 50 employees they are subject to federal regulations and you could possibly file a lawsuit for their actions in firing you.

Are you his "slave" or employee? I would make it very clear to him that should he elect to terminate your employment that a wrongful termination lawsuit would immediately follow! I think that might just change his way of thinking!
Either way, your health is more important than your "JOB" and any reasonable person would agree you need to take care of your health concerns. Personally, I would not work for an asshole like that and would welcome changing jobs!
PS: I'll bet he wears a suit and tie and really thinks he's someone important or a bigshot! Have your man go in there and give him a reality check! I've done it before for my wife!

First of all if you need it done, do it! You cannot put thing like that off. Secondly, if you have a doctor's note saying why you were off he cannot legally fire you. If he does he is breaking the labor laws and you can sue him. Just schedule your Dr's appt, go to it, and get a note from the doc, if your boss refuses it, he is in deep poopy!!

Do you have any vacation time? If so, use that. Is there an HR person at your work place? You can talk to them. I think there are legal issues involved with firing someone over medical issues but you'd need to check with a lawyer for sure. Good luck.
