Garibaldi was the Italian dictator during the first world war, but I am sure the biscuit wasn't named after him probably a Mr Garibaldi who invented it. My brother used to call my father Garibaldi because he was, Gary and bald!!!

No it was named after the brother of the singer Long John Baldi
who liked biccies and asked his bro to fetch him some and the shops where shut so he baked his own and only had raisins and some dough,the first ones wherent very nice but they got better .Long john decided to call em Not very nice raisin biccies ,but relented and called em garibaldi's..
