The Ring is also my scariest movie. I was so freaked out by it that I was afraid to answer the phone for about a month after watching it! LOL.

We've been getting all our scariest movies from the Japanese. Like that Hostel movie that came out recently. That was originally a Japanese movie too I believe. Both The Grudge and The Ring were too. Those Japanese are pretty twisted folk(I don't mean that as an insult to the race, I'm just joking) But yeah, The Ring I think was the scariest movie I've ever seen.

War of the Worlds...The fifty something version, not the Tom Cruise one. It's ok now but the first time I saw it I was about 5 or 6 and I had nightmares for a long time after that, that would send me under my bed. Some nights I would look out my window expecting to see the flying machines coming down my street anytime. I think the first nightmare on Elm Street was pretty scary too. Something about using B-Rate photography. Once they start relying on high dollar special effects too much it starts to suck. Nothing beats the feel of a B-rate horror movie.

The Exorcist is by far the scariest for me.
The Amityville Horror book is really scary too. The movies were bad.

The Return of the Living Dead
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089907/
I was scared the US government in the movie nuked one of its domestic area at the very end of the story.
Together with Commando, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger,
The Return of the Living Dead was shown at many cinemas in Japan so I watched the movie accidentally.
