Quickly- because adverbs modify verbs. In the sentence 'He quickly gobbled his lunch." He is a pronoun (the subject), gobble is the verb because that is what he is doing. the -ed at the end makes it past tense. Quickly is the adverb because it modifies gobble. How did he gobble his lunch? He quickly gobbled his lunch.

That is a good way to find adverbs, find the verb and ask yourself "How did they (verb)?". For example "I hastily rushed to class" Find the verb- rush. ask yourself "How did I rush to class? I hastily rushed to class" So hastily will be the adverb, it modifies the verb. People say to remember that a lot of adverbs end in -ly but dont go by that, the way I told you works much more effectively (that is an adverb) and works for every single adverb and sentence ("How did it work? It worked EFFECTIVELY.")

Quickly. an adverb is a word that descibes the verb (e.g. a doing word) in this case the verb is gobbled, so quickly is describing how he gobbled it.

an adverb tells you more about the verb ie how it is done. a verb is a doing word. So the verb is 'gobbled' because that's what he's doing and he gobbled it quickly so the adverb is 'quickly'
