I would send your biggest, meanest looking bro over to pay him a visit, he doesn't have to hurt him, just rough him up a little bit. Or you could just call it a loss. I know that whenever I "lend" money to friends I usually don't expect to see it back, doesn't matter the friend or amount of money. Lesson learned I guess, don't stress yourself out over this. If it's a really large amount of money you can take him to small claims court but I would say that if it's under $1000 just chalk it up to a learning experience (an expensive learning experience but none the less you learned something from it, you learned to not let friends "borrow" money from you unless you're feeling particularly charitable and don't really need it back).

I would leave a letter saying that this is really crunch time, maybe he can pay it off or get money from his credit card, or say that if you have to write it off as a bad debt, your friendship is either over or will never be the same again. It should mean SOMETHING to him..... good luck!

I would leave a message for him to please call you back regarding the money and let him know you are not angry and if he is having difficulty paying it back to let you know.. but that you feel he is dodging you and that you really don't want this to mess up your friendship .. hopefully he will call and you guys can come to some kind of agreement.

Just forget about it. Take it as a loss. But the next time he needs you say no.
