You could put a screw driver on screw and hit it with a hammer . Not too hard put good enough to make screw move. Then it should twist out. If it not stripped

Get a penetrating oil from the hardware store. They are specifically labelled. Let it soak in 24 hours. Ultimately, you may have to get a screw extractor kit, which is five or six reverse drill bits. You drill a hole into the embedded screw, then insert this reverse screw drill bit and it bites down going the wrong way and finally bites and backs the screw out. Or snaps. I've had it go both ways -

Check with your local Hardware and ask the clerk for an "Easy Out" They come in different sizes, so be prepared to tell what size screw you have.
