i was born in scotland. is it the same in england or are there different places to go?

Go the registrar's office of where you were born and they will prepare a copy for you.

The General Records Office for Scotland is the answer :-

GROS - Birth/Death/Marriage Certificates

There are 4 options for obtaining an extract of an entry on the birth, death or marriage registers:

Apply in person at New Register House, and they will send you a copy of the certificate within 5 working days. If you make your application before 13:00 you can request a priority copy which will be ready for collection by 16:00 that day.

Apply in writing and we will send a copy within 10 - 14 days. If you request the priority service they will despatch the copy within 1 working day by first class mail.

Apply at the local Registration Office where the birth
was originally registered.

Apply by telephone to New Register House using the Certificate Ordering Service
(Tel no: +44 131 314 4411).You will need to quote your Credit Card Details and Expiry Date.

08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and
08:30 to 16:30 on Friday.
The international code for the UK is 44, then drop the first 0 e.g. +44 131 334 0380.

births death and marriage office that is central to scotland. there is one in england so there must be for scotland ok

Well in the United States you contact the capitol of the state you were born in and they send it to you, don't know about Europe

You have to contact where you were born, or get a lawyer to do it.
