They blame the influence of family status and how class association had to control their lives. If this rich family's had beef with this family than the whole family had to stay away from the other family in which the beef trickled down from generation to generation. Some of them probably even didn't know what the original beef was in that case Romeo and Juliet. They just knew that family was not supposed to talk to that family.

Everyone had a hand in it. Sometimes many minors make a major.

maybe the friar could have been faster. Maybe the apothecary shouldn't have given Romeo poison. maybe the parents shouldn't have been feuding. maybe tybalt should have ignored Romeo and not challenged him. The list goes on...........

But from the audiences' point of view, the parents are made to be the source from which all seeds of each tragedy is sown.

Wm.Shakespeare - A Play What I Wrote.

The best modern version of Romeo and Juliet is without doubt, Westside Story. It is set in New York in the 1940s. It's all about street gang rivalry and turf wars and falling in love.

If you can see the movie of the same name, I promise you total enjoyment - except that it all ends in death.

The bitterness and rivalry between the two families was main factor in the death of romeo and juliet.

I blame the two of them. First, for not being honest, secondly for rushing into marriage and sex, thirdly, for plain outright stupidity.

Sure their parents acted as influences, and definitely the absence of the letter and the presence of poison added to the mix, but first (and last) it lies with Romeo and Juliet themselves. Ultimately, they made their own (poor) choices.

(As for Shakespeare sucking and not being written in English, maybe the girl who said that ought to try it first. The English, I mean.)

The parents most probably. And the family that are feuding.
Possibly Friar Lawrence for not getting the letter there in time...
