You can definitly discuss (calmly) the reasoning, who's idea it was to change etc, with your boss. State your arguement (calmly) and let your boss know that you are disappointed in the turn of events. Then let it go. If you cannot change things just remember, what goes around comes around. Chances are the person will screw up royally, and your boss will need you, or next time something good comes up he'll remember your professionalism on how you handled this situation. I have faith in ya buddy!

I'm sure you're upset... and I'd be as well. I have to wonder if your boss remembered saying you could be on the project... but if there's not doubt about that, there's honestly not much you can do. You can hope for another boss some day... or you can look for another job. Bottom line: Your boss made the call, and unless you want to go over his head (and possibly have your head served to you by higher-ups), I'd say focus on the project given to you. Work is great therapy... and as for the person who got it that you don't think shouldn't have, maybe he'll screw it up and they'll come to you begging to straighten it out. Now that's a pleasant thought!

Ask him directly why you were taken off the project but do it only AFTER you've calmed down. Don't be accusatory and don't let him know how pissed you are. Don't talk about how crummy the other project is, just ask, why were you taken off Project A.

If you want to continue to work there, you smile and accept it, since it is the boss's decision. Work isn't a democracy, and nobody said it was even fair. That is why they pay you. Or quit and find another job.
