i have a ftp server runned by serv-u. and i just wanted to know if it possible to hack into the computers connecting to my pc?
to check there files and stuff like that. not for anything bad just though it might be cool :-)

I AM NOT GONING TO HACK ANYBODY.
MY FTP SERVER IS PASSWORD PROTECTED AND ONLY USED BY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. ITS NOT LIKE IM GOING TO DELETE THEIR FILES OR ANYTHING! AND ITS FRIENDS AND FAMILY ANYWAY SO THEY WOULDNT SAY ANYTHING.

Regardless of your intentions, what you propose is illegal and can get you in a lot of trouble. I sure would not want anyone from my family messing around looking at my files.

in short, FTP stands for report pass Protocol. that's in basic terms a thank you to declare that computers are transfering documents. No, that's not going over the internet in case you're using a LAN. when you consider that a LAN is a closed equipment between your computers. FTP is report pass (known via an ftp shopper) between 2 computers over the internet. whether the computers have not got internet, possible report share between the two as long as you have a community connection for the the two one among them and that they are the two linked to it.

What you are proposing to do is illegal and immoral and is anything but cool. If you try to do it and get caught you could face legal proceedings and it is likely that your ISP would deny you access to their network.
