Of course not, only Republicans resign or are forced out after they commit ethical violations. The list could go on and on about the number of Democrats are caught committing crimes yet do not leave office.
The Democrats cheer them on the floor like Studds who had REAL sex with a teenage page, he was cheered on the House floor and reelected. Franks ran a prostitution ring from his apartment, no problem reelected. Murtha takes the cake, he was caught agreeing to a bribe in the ABSCAM investigation, now he is up for a leadership position. I could go on but I do not have all day to type that amount of names.
Yes Democrats play by a different set of rules than Republicans. No telling how the Democrats will reward Reid for this.

He probably didn't do anything wrong -- they're trying to get him on a technicality. He bought land with his wife as an investment. A few years later, he put the land's title into a partnership. The reason sounds legitimate -- to combine parcels to make the land more attractive to a developer. No money changed hands. He didn't report this transaction on his Senate finacial disclosure forms. Three years later, the parcels were sold, and Reid realized a profit of about 700,000. He reported this transaction on his Senate disclosure forms. In the 6 years he owned the land, from 1998 to 2004, the value went from 400000 to 1.1 million. This is probably not an unusual amount for land to appreciate in that Las Vegas market, especially considering that the land was in a fringe area at first, and then at the time of sale development was going on all around.
In any event, he is discussing this with the ethics panel, something that has yet to be done with Hastert or any of the others implicated in the Foley scandal. And, this is probably a witch hunt over a real technicality. He legally owned the land, sold it at a profit, and disclosed the sale. It is also nothing like the Cunningham case, Reid is not being investigated for taking thousands in bribes.

The moment Foley admitted what he had done the Republicans turned immediately against him because the GOP is the party of truth and morality. Now Harry Reid will squirm and lie and all his liberal friends will rush to his defense and squeal about all this being an "October Surprise" concocted by the Republicans. The Democratic Party is so crooked it has to screw its shoes on in the morning!

The same people who knew Foley was gay but looked the other way are also guilty of knowing that Reid is a crook while ignoring it. I wish we could get rid of all the crooks in government, but they have power. Just look at what a bald-faced crook like Reid or a known lier like Hillary have been able to do by just denying every accusation. I am still not over the missing Rose Law Firm records that mysteriously showed up at the Whitehouse after it was too late to do anything about them.

Well you partialy answered you own question what Cunningham did was illegal what reid did was not so why should he resign. Your idea of justice is if a Dem does something that makes him money he should resign along with the pedofile repubs. Your last sentance is correct if Reid is guilty of pedofillia then he should resign but if he has to resign cause he made some money legally then cheney and bush should have to resign also.

I saw the article today in the back page of the paper, of how he was involved in land deals with a friend, swapping federal lands while a congressman without disclosing relationships and ownership...but I guess trying to deceive on million dollars of taxpayer owned lands is minor league in DC these days.

The entire Republican leadership and a lot of their followers, not to mention everyone in the White House and top levels of the Pentagon, ALL belong in jail. Once we've got THOSE crooks put away we can discuss other matters!

Everyone responding to this question (whether you are republican or democrat)-- and all of America-- chill out. Everyone should get the same treatment, and there is no long track record of one party getting away with stuff while another party suffers under the law.
That is absolutely silly.
