seems that you have intermittent connection as the broadband and the internet lights go off;
check for the following;
try turning off the hub, unplug all the cables, reconnect them after a minute and turn it on,
check if there are any EMI devices like halogen lamps, microwaves etc near your router;
check if you have used only a single microfilter in your connection;
try swapping the microfilter with a spare one;
remove any extension cables and try connecting to the master telephone socket directly;
if all this does not resolve the problem call BT technical helpdesk on 0845 600 7030 and ask them to check the line with a woosh test.

are you using wireless connection?
when you get disconnected, does anything change on the modem/router itself? i.e does the light disappear or change colour or anything?

if you are using wireless, it could be coz you have a "bad" adapter. try to find another one from a friend for testing.
