I had an accident in the car and spilled a large coke on the seat of my new car. I have tried to use water to remove it and have tried to let it dry but it is still sticky and will not dry. It is a cloth based seat. Thanks in advance.

Use Oxi Clean on the stain . Make sure the water is hot when you mix it. Pour it on and around the area of the stain. let it sit for about 3 minutes, soak it up with a large towel that won't bleed color and then let it air dry. It may take a couple of days to try thoroughly, so be careful not to spill anymore coke in the meantime! After it dries, the stain and stickiness should be gone.

You have gotten some pretty good answers on here. Remember that you are not just dealing with the top cloth but also the spongy foam under it. So what ever you put in it, it will take a while to dry which causes mildew even after you clean it out. Unbolt the seat and take it to the car wash spray it down thoroughly. Take it home and set it in a garage where air can get to it and dry for at least 72 hours in fresh air. Bolt it back into your car! Bingo clean car!

Be leary of Oxyclean. While it is a good laundry product, my daughter used it on her back seats and it bleached them out.
My advice is to find a self service car wash that has the vacuum with the shampooer option. I had great success with this when I had a large cup of Mocha Latte spill all over my cloth seats and carpet. This should do the trick for you.
Good luck.

Hi
I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water on he spot and vacuum it up at the same time to remove the residue. If the stain is still visible than use a little carpet spotter on it. The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do it a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner. What I have suggested will not lock the stain in. Place a fan in the car pointing at the wet spot.

I know this sounds like a ludicrous solution, but here goes:

~buy a good grade of kitty litter, pour it on the seat
~place a towel on top of the kitty litter with a weighted object on top
~try to leave it at least overnight, and it should absorb almost all of it
~once most of the liquid is absorbed, get rid of all the kitty litter (it will be heavy with liquid, so I wouldn't use a vacuum until you get down to the very last of it
~try using upholstery cleaner to get the residual off

If this doesn't work, I'd go professional!!!

Hope it works - God bless!!!

The best carpet and upholstery cleaner I have ever used is called "Tuff Stuff". It comes in either a black spray can with a scrubby brush on top, or a large yellow can (no scrubby).

I used it on a Dr. Pepper stain that had been on my passenger seat for quite awhile. The seat looked brand new when I finished using Tuff Stuff. It's great on household carpet and upholstery, too.

I've found Tuff Stuff in the Automotive section at Target or Wal-Mart. I've also found it in Dollar General stores.

dont use bleach.... it will take the color out of the cloth.... i did this and used a little dish liquid, and cleaned it...but used water to make sure no soap residue was left so it didnt' leave a stain itself or make the cloth feel hard from soap.... then i bought some seat covers... you can also put some plastic under the covers... that will make sure if anything is spilled , it wont get on the seats and just wash the covers.... make sure you let it air dry good so it doesn't get moldy....

1/3 white vinegar to 2/3 warm water. use a scrub brush of some sort (a scrub sponge would probably do in this case) and scrub the area. let it dry and come back and hit it with a vaccume cleaner. no, it won't make your car smell like vinegar. when vinegar dries the smell goes away.

this works on just about anything and gets rid of just about anything!

First thing you want to do is to soak up the excess soda with a towel. then get a carpet spot cleaner to get the stain up from the seat.
If you have oxy clean around your house then that will work too. Try Rug doctor spot remover. you can find it where you can rent it at your local grocery store.

good luck
