Alot of businesses offer shuttle buses. A few that come to mind are El Wood Bar and Grill, Hockeytown Cafe, Carl's Chop House, Greektown and Motor City Casino. The last time we went to a game, we parked (for free) at Motor City Casino and took a free shuttle to and from the game. You simply need to join their player's club (also free, but you must be at least 21).
Public Transportation:
Joe Louis Arena is on the People Mover Route. 50 cents per ride.

Get downtown..., call a cab...., ask the cab for the tourguide station.... he won't take you all the way there... cause it's in a bad neighborhood... but he'll drop you off about 4 blocks away... - at that point you can catch a bus to 5th and Beam.... - once there... call the dj at 97.5fm... - he'll take care of the entertainment while ur waiting for the horse and buggy ride to the tourguide station,,,
the tourguide doesn't leave until midnight... so you have to be there a day early... but it's worth every second to see the redwings and their long necks...... getting hammered by any team in the NHL.

Nemos is the best, secure parking, Best Sports Bar in Town, Great food!! Not to mention the bus drivers, they rock!

most bars in the area have shuttle buses ,I don't know about the hockey town cafe
