My friend is pregnant with her first child, it is a boy, she is in need of baby clothes and baby furniture. Her nursery is going to be Classic Winnie the Pooh, and Looney Tunes at her moms house. I was wondering if anyone has some FREE baby clothes in the Champaign-Urbana, Il area...It is much needed and greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance!

You can go to Walmart and inquire about the clothes donation drop box and ask how can you receive clothes from there and also - if there are purple hearts in your area, you can also go there.

Sorry, saving all mine for the new bundle on the way. Has she tried checking with the local salvation army or good will? I know a lot of times they have donations for moms in need. Also, try garage sales and stuff. Sometimes you find good deals, bags of clothes for a few dollars. Also, she should check and see if the hospital gives free car seats when you leave to save money. Hmm, oh and if she is bottle feeding, I think the programs for baby formula will give bottles. I had some friends get pregnant in high school and I know these programs helped them out a lot. Call around, and if she is on state insurance, she could talk to her social worker, they might know or programs. Good Luck and God Bless her. I so wish I could help, but my husband and I have our second on the way, and I am going to be staying home now, so money will be tighter.

Area churches often have donated clothing available for whomever is in need. The Junior League or your area's equivalent sometimes maintains a "closet" of clothing with items in gently used condition. If your friend is willing to post her request on a forum dedicated to babies, other mothers have been known to send things by mail to help out.

BTW, I really like your friend's choice of nursery themes. I think the combination of the two themes is really cool!

i know people want the best for their baby... and want everything to be perfect... but... um... no. She needs to get what she can. there is a sayign that beggers cant be choosers. she can go to walmart and target. I got some winnie the pooh blankets from target for under 7 dollars. and even less then that from walmart

I know it is hard. my baby came early... i didnt even have a shower for her and i still dont have much. what she needs to do is sign up for wic and get some referals from the department of children and family services. they might be able to provide her with help with food, for her (if she is breastfeeding) and the baby (formula {i get formula, eggs, cheese, milk, cerial, and juice for free}) and i was also provided with a clothing voucher for her for about 200 dollars.

like i said, i understand that she wants all things to be perfect, especially if it is her first baby.... but as long as the lil bupper is healthy, clothed, and fed, he will be ok.

Tell her i wish her the best.

Try hitting yardsales the baby stuff is partically free and often not every used. Second hand stores like Once Upon a child are also good deals-- but to be frank I find it a little tacky that you are asking for freebies!

Try Craigslist.com. There is a section in there where you can list things for barter. You might be able to find something there. Another option is to contact your local homless shelter, city welfare, etc, they'll have contact information for places with either cheap or free clothes. Congrats and Good Luck!

Would love to help, but just gave all my boy stuff away. I have lots of girl clothes only. Tell her to look on freecycle in your area or you can visit www.craigslist.org they have a section that people give stuff away! Good luck and tell her I hope things look up for her!

To ask for such expensive themed products for free is laughable. I work at a fabric store, if she can sew she should go to your local Jo-Ann's and buy some winnie the pooh fabric on sale.

well, she can always go to Goodwill, she might have to pay, but it is just a few cents, i think that is because it might be slightly used but still in good condition. Tell her good luck:)

tell her to check craigslist.com or freecycle for her area. there are lots of families that give away clothes when they are through with them.
