I had the same problem. Your heavy periods are probably the underlying cause of something else, most likely fibroids (cysts in the lining of the uterus) or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The latter is treated with contraceptive pills, which dramatically lighten the period. The treatment for fibroids ranges from medication to operating, and in some severe cases, hysterectomy.

See your doctor, explain your symptoms and he should get you a scan (like the one pregnant women have) to see if there are any cysts within your womb or on your ovaries. He will then put you on the appropriate treatment.

In the meantime, use super plus absorbency towels and/or tampons, as this isn't something that can be fixed straight away, unfortunately, as an accurate cause has to be found.

A doctor exam is needed to make for sure that nothing is wrong in there. You should avoid aspirin as this medicines tend to "thin" the blood which makes you bleed easier. Try Tylenol...it is the safest. A low estrogen birth control pill make help regulate you cycle. If you have had a miscarriage, there may be some retained after birth....you will continue to bleed heavily if this is the case?
Hope this help and PLEASE SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. That much blood loss is not good!

you probably cant do anything about it if you are on your period now , but i would suggest taking a different birth control if you dont want to have children in the near future, i was the same as you and had very heavy periods and very painfull too, i started to take the depo injection as a form of contraceptive and after my first injection my periods stopped, this is usual for most women apparently and as soon as you stop having the 3 monthly injections they will return and you are fertile again almost straight away, of course they may be side affects for different women but if it is an option for you i would definitely recommend it, i wouldnt use any other form of contraception now

good luck , i know how you feel !!

Uterine fibroids are usually not dangerous, but can cause immense discomfort and lead to complications like anemia from heavy blood loss. In rare cases, they may cause complications that affect pregnancy.

In cases where there are no symptoms, treatment may not be necessary. However, proper diagnosis and treatment may be required if your symptoms are severe or causing complications. Along with conventional treatment, you can try some natural home remedies. Read here https://tr.im/WSOd0

I take a HOT bath and normally this will stop the flow for a couple hours. When the flow does come back its normally light.

try to reduce or avoid sweets n sugars in your foods. It's so simple. I really noticed it! But it's true it acctually depend on others. Try this for whole month n see the results, you also could feel less pain!

See your doctor about it as soon as possible, you can have hoemonal treatment for it! Meanwhile, try some ibuprofein, that usually helps to slow it down a bit.

Get the Merina coil fitted, wife swears by it. Can reduce sex drive though - or that could just be my wife. (And no, I'm not sure how I ended up looking at this section or giving this answer either....).
