You need to get a GOOD surge protector/power strip. They cost typically about $30 - $40 for a good one.

You should get one that has at least 850 joules of protection for surges. This will protect you against lightening strikes also quite well.

nope alway's when you shut down the pc unplug the power from the power out let for the pc / monitor / router evern if your going out for 1 hour alwasy shut down the pc & unplug the power from the power out let ,while your using the pc , use a surge protector

probably not,
for example, if it was lightning, it was not their fault,
if it was an automobile accident, not their fault.
and I am sure there are a million other things that may have happened making it not their fault.
