A few years back, I'd seen a guy with a backpack on, and on top of that was a full-grown racoon. I thought it was too cool.
There's a family of them that prowl around my backyard. Now, I'm not thinking about capturing a baby, then raising it.
I was wondering if anyone knew if someone raises them to sell as pets.

For "TheresaE", I said, "I'm NOT thinking about catching one".
And for "Sammy", I've had them come close to me as I tossed them food.
I'd raise it much like our pet dog we used to have.
And, as dogs get rabies shots, I'm sure racoons can, too.

It is legal to possess a pet raccoon but a permit is required. Contact the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, PO Box 59, Portland OR 97207

Capturing a baby racoon is cruel. Wild animals are meant to be left wild. Racoons are also the #1 carrier of rabies. Regardless of whether you are successful or not, racoons are feral even taming one there is the possiblity of it reverting back to being wild. On the flip side, you tame one then it gets loose back in the wild, it will not survive as you will have interrupted its learning. Leave the racoon alone and get a dog.

I've got no idea, but I've just bought a racoon coat and it's lovely and warm.

aboslutely not...u can not have one as a pet...they are wild animals....the guy probably had it cuz it was rescued when it was younger but got too attached to the man...they cant release them when they get like that.
Bats are the #1 carrier of rabies...

just play with them in your backyard. maybe they'll keep comming back you dont need to actual capture them and put them in a cage
