Like add an extra character when dialing. Sometimes I want to leave a message for someone and not actually talk to them.

You may be able to dial them up and AS SOON as the phone starts ringing, press star on your keypad. I think that might take you to their voicemail.

If you are on a mobile phone, and you are trying to call someone else's mobile phone, dial your voicemail number, and most carriers (T-mobile for sure) gives you the option of recording a message, and then sending it to someone, so they have a voice message, but their phone never rang. Some carriers support this, others don't, but that is the only way to do it. Goodluck.

Yeah the person above me is right, if you call your voicemail and listen to the options, you should hear either 'To record a message, press...' or 'To send a voice message, press...' Something along those lines. I've never used that, but I'm pretty sure it just lets you send a voice message to someone without actually calling them.

Depends on the carrier. With Alltel, if you dial a # before the mobile number it will put you right into the voicemail.
