I'll tell you who won't win [in order]instead...Lampard, Gerrard, Ribery, Adriano, Ballack, C.Ronaldo and Drogba (they'll both dive before they could accept the award)
Klose, Rosicky, Vieira, Rooney, Chech, Deco, Riquelme-(even though he should win) Shevchenko-(because he's been playing like a defender instead of a striker since his move)Kaka, Figo,Eto'o, Essien, Lehmann and Lahm, Thurman, Rooonaaaldinyhoooo, Henry, and anyone Italian whose name is not Buffon...
Which unfortunately, leaves Gianluigi Buffon as the winner! unless Zidane headbutts him!

Its got to be between Gattuso and Cannavaro, Buffon and Eto'o have also had outstanding years. Cant decide
p.s do any u Gerrard-Lampard lovers actually watch football or do u just watch them two cause after watching the world cup i don't think they deserve to be on the same list as the 3 Italians i mentioned

My choice : Cannavaro, as best defensive player on World Cup, also plus - Italy became champion.. Henry, as world's top scorer, had brilliant season, and gave great parties, not only for Arsenal but also for France helping them enter final.. and finally Zidane, his career is over, he was best player on this World Cup, and if they won't look on his mistake in final he'll get it definitely..
In my opinion these three players are the best candidates for title..

" STEVEN GERRARD " Remember Saturday 13th May 2006 at the Millennium Stadium in Wales.West ham were Winning the F.A.Cup 3 - 2, (they had been in front since the 64th minute), Then came the 90th minute and up came STEVIE G and he SC....OR....ED which meant the dreaded Penalties, NO Worries, LIVERPOOL ended up winning the F.A.CUP 3 - 1. which is why I believe Stevie G should win Footballer of the year 2006.

So many great players,the player i think who should be at least top three is Riquelme he really is a class act,you want to see the best midfielder in the world then watch this guy,i think it will be Eto'o who wins it though.
