No woman has ever been the nominee of either of the two major parties. A number of women have run in the primaries (most recently, Carol Moseley Braun ran for the Democratic nomination in '04 but dropped out early) and on minor party tickets (the first was Victoria Chaflin Woodhull on the Equal Rights Party ticket in 1872).

Yes, a woman has, but she never won the Democratic primary; so she wasn't on the ballot in November (I don't remember her name, but it was in the last two elections.)

Your second question is sad that it even has to be asked (no disrespect to you, since you are NOT the first person to ask this question.)

Why do we even need to ask "When you vote for a woman as President?" That's like asking "Would you vote for a black person or hispanic for President?" or "Would you vote for a Jew for President?"

In this nation, where all are supposed to be equal, and everyone is free, we have to ask people if they would consider voting for a woman? What's worse is that some people will certainly say "No".

Why can't a woman, or a black or hispanic or a Jew be seriously considered for the Presidency. Many will say that it's because some voters are "old-school" and that they can't vote for a woman to lead them. The funny thing is, some of those people who think it's wrong, won't themselves break down and vote for a minority (in this case, anybody except for a white male.)

We should correct this soon, otherwise, while at the time it seems that more minorities are running for higher offices, I fear that some of them will get discourages an not wish to run for a bigger job.

I would vote for a woman president if the right candidate presented herself. I always thought that Jean Kirkpatrick would have been a great president. The shame is that someone like Hillary Clinton can be a front runner. She is a lying crook weasel and that will set women back many years.

I dont think we have had a woman run for president yet. This could change in 2008, although I will not vote for this particul;ar woman if a qualified woman were to run I would probably vote for her. ( Condi Rice in 2012 everybody?)

No woman has ever ran for president of The United States. Whether or not I would vote for her would depend on who she was. My vote certainly wouldn't be based on gender.

Yes, women have run for president. Some even got votes.

I would vote for a woman if she was the best candidate. I would never vote for someone because they are the right gender, race, or religion.

No woman has run for President-elect yet....but if a woman did, and she stood on issues with ethics and a drive to move beyond our male-controlled political evils I would vote for her.

I wouldn't vote for a woman just because she's a woman. I'd have to know what the political views of both sides are.

No major political party has offered a female candidate for President. They have offered a female for Vice President. If a female was the most qualified candidate for President, then I'd vote for her.
