you know, how nbc, ap, reuters, cbs, fox, etc. etc. etc. always wave around these new results from an AP-Ipsos poll or whatever the latest poll is? well...how do I get to be in one of those polls? how are those people selected? i'd like to tell those pollers what I think and not random people representing me

That's the whole point of a poll -- they are random. They are a representative sample of folks. You can't volunteer to be in a poll. If you were to volunteer for one you would no longer represent the population.

You have to be at home a lot. (unemployed, on welfare, a school teacher, disabled, retired, etc.) You have to be willing to participate (working taxpayers are seldom patient with phone polls) And most importantly, you have to give them the answers they want in the first place.
