The only time I do not wave is when I need my hand on the clutch, while making a turn or in the middle of alot of road action going on around me. I try to at least nod, if possible. Your safety comes before a wave. I ride a Harley, always will, and I wave to all bikers. The brand doesn't matter, if you ride you're in the brotherhood and deserve a wave or nod.

I always wave, if the opportunity presents itself. I ride a sportbike. I could really care less if you are on a Harley, another type of cruiser or sportbike.
It is all about the joy of riding.
The wind the force of nature that you battle each time you drive. It is also about the respect for all of out there that have to battle the IDIOTS on the road. That goes for 18 wheelers, trucks that think they can run you over, cars that have drivers on cell phones and don't look where they are going...and also for the squids = the bikers that don't wear a helmet but seem to believe they are indistructable.
Every time you get off your bike and you in one peice it is a blessing to God.
Mostly wave for respect of you fellow rider. If you don't have the courtesy to show respect then maybe you should learn some.
Just a few thoughts from a fellow rider - been riding almost 9 yrs now.

It is not an insult not to wave. Just remember that there are a lot of inexperienced riders out there, and some riders are concentrating on the road more than others, so waving can be a distraction. Just keep being friendly and keep enjoying the ride, because that is one of the most important things about riding a motorcycle or even a bicycle. Ride Safe!

There are some people out there that think that they are a hard A$$ and just don't wave. I mean I ride I sport-bike and I don't care what you are riding, as a rider I will wave just to acknowledge them as another biker.

try going to sturgis someday. at about 200 miles out (depending which way you are coming in from) you will be meeting more and more bikes. at first i thought it was cool to give 'em a wave. by the time i got there there were so many bikes and a crush of people that i just figured it would make no difference if i waved or not. so i think it is probably fatigue rather than indifference when people don't wave back.

You always wave unless you're in a situation that you need both hands. It's the "brotherhood" of bikers. It's also quickly becoming a "sisterhood". Have you seen how many women bikers there are? I think it's great.

I wave at just about anyone else on a two wheeler, including mopeds. But sometimes I'm too distracted by something going on in my lane to look into the other lane, or have to keep both hands on the grips. Those are the only things that will keep me from waving.

Not want to. Well shifting/clutching, unfamiliar road, Some of the bigger events, Laughlin, Sturgis ,4 corners there is just too many bikers, you'd be waving all day.

i usually wave if im on a two lane road or even on a 4 lane road, just depends on how busy traffic is. but i dont on the freeway or when im turning, you need you full concentration so when to wave is up to each person and how comfortable they are with their bike. so wave if your in control and are comfortable, or dont if your concentrating or are friendly.
either way i think its a good gesture to wave even though many harley and other crusiers dont wave back.
and most important is keep the rubber side on the ground

always wave or nod but od times you might be changing gear or distracted by a car or something so can miss the OD bike, even if they are ninjas or Harley riders if they don't acknowledge its their problem, done it for 35 year wont stop now,
you can not beat seeing the smile on a learners face thats if they havent a full face lid on, to know they are bikers as well.
