I recommend a computer diagnostic which can only be done when the little light is on. No not the little handheld deal at AAP or AZ, but an actual diagnostic by a mechanic in a shop.

Sounds like ( just a thought) your timing has jumped. What is the year, make and model?

Oh, and don't listen to 'Avatar' above. He's just a man that doesn't know jack about cars, and making himself feel better about it by putting you down. The kind of man that I sincerely want to degrade everyday of my life b/c he doesn't want a chick working on his car. Been dealing with it since I became a mechanic.
