I say its fantastic, and tax cuts should remain permanent. but some Far lefters on here will insist everyones taxes need to be raised, which is sheer lunacy! To the boneheads above me, theres a war going on, Oh excuse me, I guess I should have directed that to the sane Americans on this board, not the ones in La La land!

I can say several things.

First, when you adjust for inflation, it's still just barely more than was collected in 2000.

Second, It's still 248 billion dollars too little (that being the size of the deficit this year).

Third, it's easy to get a 12% jump when you're starting from a level that's 8% lower than it was the previous year.

Fourth, overall revenue growth from 2000 to 2006 is only 1.05% (adjusted for inflation). By comparison, the growth in the first six years of the Clinton administration was 39%.

So, no, I don't think this is really a win for the GOP. If all you do is listen to their back-slapping publicists, it sounds good. But if you really look at the numbers, it's just not all that impressive.

As a Libertarian I say good we get to pay less in taxes, but the problem is Bush is spending more then he is taking in. Its simple 101 Budget Managing. I'll give credit to Bush when he finally balances the Budget. If that happens, I'll be a ruler of a small country and lets face thats not going to happen.

Revenue is only good if it's NET revenue. Subtract the Dumbya debt, and the debt that is OFF THE BOOKS. And the tax cuts are massively going to the super rich.
