In 1936 it started to interfere with the tobacco market. The companies got mad and spoke up in congress, and the rest is history.

Our prison system is a business. Prisons house bodies for money. The more bodies the more money. Add up how many Americans are being housed in our prison system through out our great country for anything to do with marijuana, and see what the prisons receive for housing these bodies. And look at all the employment gained by housing these harmless bodies.( Lawyer, judge,guards,medical staff,police,state attorney,bailiff,the list goes on.)
That's just one thought.
It may be too hard to TAX! Since it seems to be sooo easy to grow.

I have to agree with 'garyshell' in that it, like so many other legal issues, all boils down to dollars and cents ie: taxes. There would probably be far less angry people walking around with guns shooting at random if it was legalized however!!

I don't smoke it anymore, but it's plain stupid that it's not legal and taxed. It should be treated the same as alcohol. Society has a lot more trouble with
alcohol problems than with weed.

i think because the tests cant tell if ure stoned while driving or 3 days prior or so
