Can anyone suggest resources for notated irish solo dances or traditional solo dances? I'm looking specifically for softshoe steps (written or video).

Also, I am looking for a glossary of softshoe irish dance terms.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Here are a few site on Irish dancing you might find helpful.

Site 1 shows illustrated steps for dancing a reel
Dance Steps
Seven Steps: Side step in reel

The second site gives basic instructions in this form
Beginners Jig (a.k.a. jump 3 times)
Jump, hop up, hop back 2, 3, 4
Jump, hop up, hop back 2, 3, 4
Jump, hop up, hop back 2, 3, 4
Hop up, hop back, hop back 2, 3, 4.
If you have studied the other sites you may be able to follow these. It also has steps for:
Jigs
Reels
Slip Jigs
Hornpipes

Third site is instructions for set dancing. These would be performed in groups.
Figure Dance Glossary
List of Figure Dances

Site 4:Glossary of Terms
Helpful guide to those new to Irish dancing

Site 5: Introducing Irish Music & Dance
An introduction to the wide variety of Irish music and dance forms.

Site 6: How to do Irish Dancing

i feel kinda funny suggesting this, but Wikipedia (online) is a great place to start for research. Not only will it give you an article about what you're looking for, it will give references, links, and other articles to check out, as well. I use it to research a book I'm writing and have found it incredibly helpful.
