I am 26 at the end of the year and my man is 36, we have been together for a few years now and we have been talking about starting a family. he's says wait until he has a bit of money etc behind him which i can fully understand but his age is a concern for me. Can men really be "too old" to start a family? Help!!

36 is not too old, but don't wait for too long though. Men do start to loose their sperm count as the years go by.

His age is not a problem Men can still make a baby up til the day they die. It is never a good time to have a baby. TRUST me my first came along at the worse time. I wouldn't change a thing. But maybe you should ask the real question maybe he is putting it off in the hope you will give up on the idea. If you really do want children Then maybe you should think about your relationship. If it isn't right it now maybe it will never be. Plse think long and hard about it, You really don't want to get trapped.

I am not sure it matters for men as much as women. ie lder women may have problems However once in late 40's it could be classed as selfish to start a family. In Spain I know a lot of people in their 40's just starting familys and I have a friend who has his 1st daughter at 39 his wife is 35. and my german friend is 41 this week his mother had him at 42 (accident) and his dad was 90 and is still healthy and going strong and has seen his son graduate grow up marry and have his own kids Don't worry if you are both ready go make a baby

You're 26 and you think 36 is too old? 36 is old to 5 year olds, but that's about it. Lighten up! You're not married to a mummy! He'll be funtional for decades. If not, ever heard of Viagra?

No, he is not too old, but do you both want to? Maybe you need to sit him down and find out if there are any other concerns for him as neither of you are immature. 26 is a sensible age for you to be a mum, did he always want children? I hope you work this out together.

i don't think 36 is too old for a baby..however if he isn't ready for a familly.. than i think u should wait. Children are a large exspense however, it seems there's never enough $ to have a familly you just kinda have to fit them into your finances the best u can.. it always seems to work. but if he's not ready by 36 he may never be!

Oh for goodness sake, 36 is not too old. Charlie Chaplin fathered a child at 80 for goodness sake!

At 36 he is certainly not too old! Look at Rod Stewart and others like him. Women are the ones who generally get too old! Go for it!
