Are they charging way too much to advertisers?

Advertisers wouldn't pay for commercials if they didn't get some sort of a financial benefit from it. There's no subscription fees for network television either, but advertisers still pay them millions of dollars to show their commercials because they know at least someone is going to respond to that commercial and check out their product. Same thing with MySpace. It's a gold mine for whoever bought it.

It doesn't need to charge membership fees.... Advertisers pay to have their ads on the site.

No, because the advertisers are willing to pay to get that many eyeballs. It's no different if you had a hit TV show, the ad rates are obscene...

Do you have any idea how many members MySpace has???? Now wouldn't you pay good money to be able to target all those members? Not to mention all the information that is collected and then later on used to sell you stuff? That is priceless...
