Is it bad talking to poeple you don't know online?

Yup. They can con you into meeting them in person and then bad stuff happens...

Not if you're not mean or insulting AND you're very careful. For instance, don't give out any personal info (like real name, location, school you attend, phone # and so on). NEVER agree to meet them in person (unless...MAYBE, after a long time, you get to know them AND you're an adult).
If you're a kid, just keep your folks somewhat informed of who you're talking to. This can calm their fears and they might know of some precautions you wouldn't think of. My kid has a whole crowd of friends on Myspace.com, and on AIM, but only invites people he already knows. It's a good way to save on the phone bill. When he started doing this, he had too much personal information, so we went through it and I helped him delete a lot of stuff that sickos could use to locate him and/or harrass him.
You can have a safe online connection w/people, usually, if you're careful and follow basic rules. Check out the site below and others like it, possibly with your parents.

No I do it all the time, you just gotta be careful. For one do not give any personal information away, Two do not agree to meet that person. But if you must meet this person, then agree to meet some where public with alot of people and have your friends around just in case this person turns out to be insane or something. Do not chat with any perverts... They are disgusting! And they need to get a life besides chatting on-line with an innocent 15-year old girl...!!!

Yes and no. Depends on you and what your doing on line. If whatever your doing is ok that it won't hurt anyone and you being safe because there all kinds of crazy people in the word then your ok.

NO, just don't try to meet them or anything because you never really know who you are talking to. I could be a murder or a rapist for all you know.

Only if they're sketchy and you give them personal information. As long as you stay anonymous, everything should be ok.
