If there is conclusive proof that he did steroids his record should absolutely without doubt be stripped of his record. Non of the old timers had the technology they use today with equipment (bats or balls) Way back they would play an entire game with the same ball if it stayed in play. That was to the pitchers advantage. and they definitely didn't use steroids.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Innocent until PROVEN guilty."?
It does in fact, apply here as well. You may assume due what you like. Be it based on credible evidence or mere speculation.
IF Barry took any performance enhancing substances, and I'm not saying that I think he did, or didn't. The substances in question were NOT against MLB rules at the time that he allegedly used them.
McGwire used Andro, which was LEGAL when he used it in 1998. His 70 will not be erased.
Also, it is generally ackowledged that the time frame for Barry's alleged use was from 2000-2003. So, why would you take away the 500 home runs he had hit before that? Or the three MVP awards that he had won prior?
IF you are going to start taking away records... start with Jose Canseco, the late Ken Caminitti, and Raphael Palmiero.
Does that mean the 1989 Giants will receive the World Series trophy insted of the A's? Who will get the 1988 AL MVP? Or the 1996 NL MVP?
How do we give back the earned runs that were knocked in by Palmiero? How do we give back outs that were recorded by Jason Grimsley?
What about Roger Clemens strikeouts or his Cy Young awards? There's not much PROOF that Clemens used HGH, "but COME ON... surely he did, right?"
Since Pettite and Clemens were on teams TOGETHER do we take away the post season victories from BOTH of them?
Where does it end? You cannot alter the past. You can only fix the present and change the future. All MLB can do is institute blood tests and move forward.

Not only is there no proof, but it wasn't against MLB's rules for the vast majority of his career. Plus baseball has no provision for this, and they probably never will. It's dumb to even think about canceling his records because of this-- especially when you consider the number of players who are under suspicion right now. Are you going to say that none of the at bats after 1995 (or whenever you pick) don't count because so many of the players were juiced? That makes about as much sense.

No, there is no proof. That is MLB's fault for not testing for steroids until the issue became a congressional issue.
How can you strip anyone of a record when there is NO TANGIBLE PROOF?
MLB is corrupt, they let the steroid thing go on for years before starting to test.

Officially, no. Unofficially, yes. I think it's a shame the athletes use steroids, because their ego is the size of a planet. If I made it to the pros (and I could have), I surely wouldn't take steroids. I'm someone who would like to play raw. Yes, I would like to be successful. But, to need pills to enhance myself...well, that just makes me sick. So, even if someone could prove that he and other athletes did, you can't really take it away. After all, there could still be that chance that he (and other athletes) could do it. I mean, 'da Babe could do it. Maybe Barry can, too! By the way, I'm no fan of Bonds or any other athlete who takes 'the juice'.

You said it right there, NO PROOF. Also you would have to go back to the beginning and put everyone under the micrscope. Jeremy Giambi did roids. Did nothing. Why is ok to do roids if you do not break records. no double standards please.

No.
Why not strip others records who were found positive?
I agree with KWB. MLB blames their mistakes on the players, instead of themselves.

No, he was one of the greatest to ever play the game long before BALCO.
It's funny how nobody is trying to take any of Mark Macguire's accomplishments away from him.

NO WAY! Maybe he used steroids, maybe not. He probably did, but you can't possibly say that he's the only one who has or is using steroids, right?
