Hi...Ok about two days ago it was POURING...and my car window was down so I walked outside to roll up the window and slipped and busted my butt in the mud...I tried to catch myself so I would fall a little softer lol...cuz I am pregnant and didnt want to hurt anything. I called the doc...cuz I was having some really bad back pain and I had to go in to give blood work anyway so they checked on the baby..and everything was fine with him...but now my knee is hurting soo bad I cant bend it or straighten it and its all swollen... my OB wont be of much help..obviously..but if I go to another doc...dont you think it would be a waste of time..cuz they wouldnt be able to x-ray me or..give me anything for the pain right? So do you all know of anything I could do to make my knee feel better..and do to make it heal faster? (like Ice..or a heating pad..or both...or no walking..suggestions like that...thanks) DONT BE RUDE..it makes me upset. Thanks in advance

Congrads on the pregnacy! For knee problems, go to your local store (wal mart, target, a sports store) and get a knee brace, it will help for day time activities. Also, elivate the leg on pillows and put some icy-hot or mineral ice on it. I have had knee pains ever since a bad skiing accident, so I have loads of expierence in this area. Try not to walk as much as you can. If you cant get a knee brace go to the self medication isle and get a few ace bandages.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Just do the RICE thing, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. And think about going to an orthopedic specialist. I promise you that you aren't the only pregnant woman whose had an issue like this and there are ways around an x-ray. You might have a sprained knee or something more serious. It might be something as simple as water on your knee, that can be caused by inuring yourself in a fall, and draining it will relieve the problem, don't worry, that doesn't really hurt. I injured my knee though and couldn't move it and it was that the cartilage was torn, this is a common injury. An orthopedic dr. might be able to tell by how your knee feels when he manipulates it. If that's the case you'll probably have to wait until you have the baby to get surgery. You don't say how far along you are, but I don't think you want to spend the rest of your pregnancy in pain, so go get checked out. Good Luck and be careful.

I would check out a Chiropractor. They could try to adjust it if it was out of whack (for lack of a better word). You might also want him to check your back, if you fell on your butt you might have hurt your back too (you may not notice any back pain until the knee pain goes away). It is safe to see a chiropractor while pregnant. Or go to your regular Dr., if something is wrong (broken leg possibly, torn ligaments, etc.) they can do an x-ray of your knee, and double shield you abdomen to protect the fetus from the x-ray. I would not continue to walk on th swollen joint. The doctor can tell you usually Tylenol or Codiene for a short period in your pregnancy is considered resonably safe for you and baby. Hop this helps.

Well I'm hispanic and there's this oil that we always use when our bodies are sore or hurting. I'm not sure if this is the real name of it but we call it VOLCANICO. Actually it's called Volcanic oil. I added a link that way you can see how it looks. Well anyway it's an oil than you just rub on wherever hurts you and it gets hot and actually soothes really well. You can put that on and then double the heat with a heating pad. I always used to do that when I was injured in sports or something since I was very athletic. So try that.

heat and ice rotate them every 20 minutes for an hour then get up and do whatever needs to be done if you can. this helped me a lot when i dislocated my knee. if you have a knee brace that may help as well. your regular doctor can give you some pain medicine, like vicodin or something. i know they can because they gave it to me when i had my appendix taken out when i was about 5 months pregnant. don't take anything but tylenol. it is the only thing that is safe for you to take while pregnant. hope thishelps, holly

You can have an xray to see if you didn't anything to it. The technicians will cover your stomach and chest in lead and you'll be okay, but do that only as a last resort. However, ice and heat alternating is a good idea, but you need to not stay off of it for long periods of time, the muscles get stiff and harder to move if you do so. Try soaking in a warm bath with epsom salt, it does wonders for sore muscles. Also, they have icy hot patches, my husband uses them for his back and they are wonderful little inventions. Good luck to you!

its very scary to fall when pregnant! Sorry!
I hope it feels better very soon,
If you ask your doctor and tell them you are pregnant they CAN perscribe you some pain meds, like when you have the baby and you breast feed, you can be perscribed pain meds not harmful to the baby!
Keep it elevated like you said stay off of it as much as you can and soak it in warm water, ( nothing hot this is harmful for the baby)

GOOD LUCK!

i would stay off of it for a few days. alternate between heat and ice. i think ice is for swelling and heat is for pain. as for medications, u should talk to ur doc. cuz of ur baby, a lot of meds will be off-limits. well, thats the extent of my knowledge.

feel better!!

go to the dr. you can take pain meds. just not certain ones. If you broke something or cracked something you need to know. so you can get a cast or brace to help healing!

they know how to get around you being preggers thats their job!

you don't want to hurt yourself more by not going to the Dr!
