I just lost what I think is my mucous plug. Not to be gross but it is really stringy and had some yellowish color to it. The other day had some veiny blood to it. I am already 3 cm dilated, and how soon do you think i will go into labor?? My lower back is hurting, and my stomach is contracting every so often..i'm starting to time them now. I will be 37 weeks tomorrow, and if i go to the er, this will be my 3rd time going in. I'm afraid they will want to stop my labor. Any suggestions?? Thanks. Oh-btw-this is my 2nd pregnancy.

It sounds like you are real close. But, even after the loss of the plug it can take another week or so before you have the baby. Could the stomach contractions be Braxton Hicks?
If I were you, I would call the hospital and tell them all the symptoms. They may advise you to come in, or, they may have you wait. My last pregnancy they had me wait until I was having regular contractions every 4-5 minutes. I'd call and see what they say. Good luck!

Babies can survive fine after the 36th week. So they most likely won't stop the labor. Another thing is that if you're 3 cms dilated, if you go in chances are that they'll send you back home. I've heard of people walking around for weeks being 4 cms dilated. But, it's completely up to you if you want to go to the doctor or not - use your gut instinct. No one knows you better than yourself. Good luck.

If you lost your plug, and contraction have started, you should call your doctor. He will advise you when you should head to the hospital.

Please don't rely on what is said in this room for your delivery.

The lower back pain, the contractions, loss of your plug. all signs that things are moving along. Get the doctor involved.

By-the-way, 37 weeks is long enough for your baby to develop.

That was your plug for sure. It could be anytime, or another week. I walked around for a week dialated to 2 and 100% effaced with no plug. They will not stop labor once you reach 37 weeks.

time the contractions and when they get to a reg interval you should go to the hospital. They will only stop your labor if it is too soon for the baby to be healthy.

mucous plug is more solid, if you are 3cm you are already in labor, wait until the contractions are stronger and come at regular intervals

you should go in now because you might be in labor. If you find that you are urinating alot or you feel constantly wet then you should go. You can also wear a sanitary napkin to see if you are leaking fluids if you are soaking a pad you might be ferning already and you need to go in.
