I see people who are like 30 something years of age and they're working a very low paying job and I know they're physically beat down from the labor everyday. Do you feel sorry for these people or is it their fault because they should be motivated enough to move up in life and want something out of life (better things)? We get what we earn. I mean celebrities they don't have to work at some minimum wage job because they strived for where the abundance of money is in the job field of acting, music, etc. Also, why come people don't go for these fields because they pay so much money? If I start looking right now for $100,000 a year jobs will I get it? I'm setting my goals high or bidding high I should say. Or are people just to lazy to look for higher paying jobs.

Your avatar has dark skin, so I guess you are black. I am white, and I feel no reason to pity you b/c your black. There is no reason to automatically pity a person who doesn't project what society calls success.

However, people who lack human compassion are truly pitiful.

So, it sounds like you are looking at those folks and you feel that they are not as successful as you would hope you would be at their age and as a compassionate person, you feel a stab of pity, hence this question.

Do your best to be polite and not condescending to those folks. Don't assume automatically that they are pity cases. Use what you are reacting to as a motivation not to find yourself in these circumstances that you consider pitiful.

While most celebrities probably come from unspectacular backgrounds, the number of celebrities is limited and although they often make large sums, the life of some celebrities is so stressful that they have difficult personal problems.

Getting an early start in looking for a high-paying job will not guarantee aquisition of such a job.

People in apparently crappy jobs are not necessarily lazy. They may wish to work a "day-job" for sustenance while they prepare for a better career. I read of a woman who came here from China thirty years ago. She worked a hotel desk while building a real-estate business. When she went full-time she vowed only to sell $1M+ houses. She has gradually made a sucess and owns two French Chateux, as well as a house in an ultra-pricey community in the San Francisco Bay area.
Other ppl may have gotten discouraged and accepted the best they thought they could get. Some ppl live so frugally that they only need a fraction of the income most ppl do.
I know a couple of old ppl who inherited their family's farm. They lived very frugally on the land and their unspectacular jobs netted them much more than enough income to retire from that work and live very happily. I saw one of them, a man in his mid-eighties, bent over and looking frail. Nevertheless, he was plowing a 20 or 30 acre field early in the morning. When I drove by at lunch, he had put away his tractor, leaving the field completely done. I know that guy was definitely not so pressed financially that his only option was to do that work. He makes a choice to do what he does.

I know a guy who took a stressful job just out of school. He told me that the $65K/yr job required him to unwind with a couple mixed drinks every evening. He changed jobs to a position paying $10K less and was under so much less stress that he could do without the drinks. He said he was twice as happy to be making about 15% less.

Well my friend, I can say, there is more to life than money. I drive class A OTR because I could never afford school, and I got sick of working low-paying jobs just to survive, have been driving since age 21 and I am now 34. Not everyone cares if they make alot of money, I know people who are happy with less than $25,000 a year because they have things like family and pride, or they live in a area with not much of a economy but wish to stay for whatever reason. I now make around $50-60,000 a year and I get 2 months off in winter to do what I please, but its not for the money anymore, I enjoy what I do. I could have taken a couple of hazmat and petroleum jobs for around $75,000 a year but Im happy with what I got. I dont know what fields you are talking about and I doubt you will be making $100,000 or more a year in your lifetime. Pick something and go with it, who gives a shi* about celebrities, what does that have to do with this topic, some are born into a good life and some create their own, but very few end up where they wanted to be. This world needs less motivation, its all the motivated people that cause all the problems. Wall street thugs, politicians, christian conservatives, muslim extremists, CEOs, Ect. Ect. Your saying, we get what we earn, is one of the most untrue statements I have ever heard, you should say, you get what you deserve but most dont. America is about fear and consumption, and I see you have the consumption part down. If you think most people that work low-paying jobs are lazy then I really feel sorry for you if and when you end up in one your own, would you rather they be on welfare or homeless?. If you have the means to get into a good college do so and work your as* off to get to where you want to be in life, but alot of people dont have this option so if you do thank god or whatever you may believe in that you have this opportunity. Quit worrying about what other people are doing or making and just be happy that you made it into this game called life, and this country they call The United States Of America. You ever been to places like Romania, Liberia, Kosovo, Iraq, or Russia? I have been to all 5 and a few others like them and can safely say you have no idea how tough life can really be.

There are many reasons why a person works a minimum wage job. Education, expectations, benefits, hours, or they may just like the job. It is not for anyone to question anothers reason for what they do, they deserve respect for an honest days work. What would happen if there was no one to work at the local MacDonald's? How about the bank? (tellers start at minimum) What about the guy that changes your oil, delivers your pizza or checks out your groceries? These are all REAL jobs and a necessary part of society. Wouldn't we all want to have a 100,000 a year job...but there aren't that many out there....

Sometime you should because all people don't want to be were there at. They could have some kind of sickness or be limited to somethings. You never know they might have already went to school and they are not happy and just do something else. You know the old saying that you cant tell a book from the cover right. So what about starts. Some of them don't strive to be were they are. Pairs Hilton, Nicole Richie, Tori Spelling there are more but I'm not going to name them all but they were born in to it. They are already had money. RICH GET RICHER THE POOR GET POORER

It is not that they are lazy to look, but I think it is a matter of circumstance in their life. I am not where I am suppose to be in my career because of my father. I didn't go to college immediately after high school & my father isn't supporting me financially in anyway. I am in debt to my creditors and now jobs are harder to find. So, if you want that $100,000 job, you have to climb the ladder. of course I want a higher paying job, but the more experience I gain, I would get one. So, it depends on that person's lifestyle where they have been and how they will get there. Don't be judgmental.

People can find themselves doing certain jobs for various reasons. It could be choices, it could be their own circumstances, it could be that's all the education they have allows them to do, or it could be that's all the work that was available at that time. Some choose menial type jobs as they do not want a job that has responsibilities. If you want the big$ paying jobs you have to have something to offer and a very high work ethic.

Some people just totally lack the ambition or just don't believe in themselves to get it done. Some don't want the stress that comes with a high paying job. I honestly don't feel sorry for them for the most part. Where there's a will there's a way, and many people like this just have no will to do anything.

well in lots of cases the people just don't think that they can get another job at their age and its more of feeling a financialy safe thing. but if you set your goals high and work at it i'm sure you'll land the job your looking for.

you sound jaded. to answer your question neither you should be proud that these people are working so hard to support themselves and not on a street corner begging for food. not every one can get the greatest job in the world some of us just have to settle.
