Cut and paste this address, it will show you what a fodder shock is. It's the stacking of corn stalks, in the fall. The Amish use it, I think to dry their corn.....hope this helps!

I think it's corn stalks stacked so they look like an X. Fodder is a word for feed for farm animals. There's a nice old harvest poem: "When the frost is on the pumpkin and the fodder's in the shock, And you hear the kyouck and gobble of the struttin' turkey cock, O it's then's the time a feller is a-feelin' at his best, With the risin' sun to greet him after a night of peaceful rest...""
