I guess, an "affair" usually refers to something prolonged, and a one-night stand is, by definition, a one-time deal. I think affairs are infintely more "dangerous" than the one-nighters. If my husband had a one-nighter, I probably would never even find out, which is totally fine with me. But an affair would probably surface eventually, and it would be very messy. I would not forgive an affair.

That is a tuff one becasue I guess they are basically the same but.....To me the differance would be a one night stand is the spur of the moment, hot and steamy kind. The affairs is a lengthy, get to know you better, emotional kind.
I would prefer my husband have a one night stand. Because he really does not have time for any thing more than that!

i'd be upset and leave over both
hmmmm my man cheat with a one night stand (usaully a perfect stranger)
or have an affair (usually with someone you know)
neither that makes the cheater a lower than a dog man or woman (dogs are loyal)

a 1 night stand is a one off where as an affair is ongoing over a longer period of time. the one could be seen as a drunken mistake but the other could never be forgiven
