I have noticed a preference. When a White person is in a plane crash; when a white student is missing the whole world news cast talks for days on; even interviewing the parents. Blah, Blah, and Blah. But when an miniority is missing, CNN and other news broadcasters will do maybe one segment and thats it. Why is this?

One of my parents is white and the other is black. I have a good education and am not mad at the world. I have perfect credit, never had a traffic ticket, and have many hobbies. Many of my white co-workers feel the same way. I don't watch BET nor would I watch a all Red-neck show. I stand by what I have said.

Well done, you must take after the white side of the family if you have a good credit rating. Only joking. I'm a half caste also.

You kinda answered your own question. If a minority goes missing then only the minority of viewers would be interested in the story. Unless you wish to force the majority of people to watch a minority story.

Vice versa if a white majority related story happens then most viewers will want to heay about it.

That why there is shows specifically for minorities and award shows for music acting etc.

Dont become racist. it has always made me wonder when like you and me that if you are half white half black. We always seem to feel less accepted be less accepted y whites. Its not about being accepted. If you were short fat and ugly you wouldn't be accepted either. Just be you and be good.

You're not imagining it. Just like you don't imagine it when 99% of the primetime TV shows have very few main characters of color. Advertisers PREFER networks to air shows that cater to the white middle class--(ie they advertise during that period and the white middle class will spend the money). It is getting better, but a young blonde haired blue eyed child will get more media attention. The exeption is when the missing person of color is extremely attractive--then they will be mentioned.

Mavar, open your eyes, all the major networks are like this. It's very rare when a missing story isn't about a white person.

Hey shiraz, where in her question is the word prominent found?

That isn't true. Maybe you only see what you want to see to stay angry at something deeper than what you see on cnn.

I disagree with your minority label. This day and age..there is no such thing as minority. We all share the land and we are all equal..if we stopped pointing the figure for two seconds and removed labels..there would be more peace amoung everyone.

Its the bitterness that brings down mankind and life.

MAYBE WE SHOULD PUT A CALL IN TO THE PRODUCERS OF THE SEGMENTS TO FIND OUT WHY THIS PRACTICE IS TAKING PLACE. ALL MISSING PEOPLE DESERVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF AIR TIME.

there are to many , for example if they were to report every black person missing or shot they would have to create an entirely new channel and somehow add another day in the week and not run commercials

You must be getting CNN confussed with Fox News. Their slogan: "We Report and You Decide....On Missing White Women!"

I think it's more about money and level in society, than it is colour of skin or race.
