I am looking at options for getting hot water to a shower in less than the 5 minutes it takes now. Does anyone have any experience with this Hot Water Lobster product? Seems like a good idea, but I can't find much info.

Have you tried to insulate your hot water lines? The problem I see with this lobster is when you just want cold water (like a nice cold drink) you will instead get the 85 degree water out of the tap until the hot water clears the cold tap. Also, while it's true when they say your hot water heater will be heating warmer water then the normal cold water coming into the heater, it's also true that you'll be doing this more often then you used to, so I'm not sure you won't end up netting out an increase in cost due to the circulation to your water heater. My final point would be that after you install this device, you have another gizmo in your plumbing system waiting to go bad (like lime build up on the valve so you either end up with the thing not working or with it partically open all the time)
In the final analysis, there isn't a good solution except to install an instant on demand tankless heater on your shower line if the extra water really bothers you.

With the water saving mandate here in California we wanted to do our part. After reading mixed reviews on the Hot Water Lobster recirculation valve, we decided to try one based on the 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. We found it very easy to install and it started working immediately. GREAT PRODUCT! I guess the negative comments are probably from the completion (electric pumps, which are hard to install and more expensive).

I installed the red lobster unit and its junk don't waste your money .You call for service and they make you jump through so many loops when you call to try to get it to work.Had my plumber even remove flow vales in hot water heater because they said it would not work with the valves at the top of heater.Sent the unit back and the would not refund money .go but a circulator pump from watts our a good co a little more work to install but it works Also last note you will be brushing your teeth in warm water in am don't work for me.I SHOULD HAVE LISTEN TO MY PLUMBER SOUNDS TO GOOD TO JUST HOOK INTO HOT AND COLD WATER LINES WITH NO PUMP I GOT BURNT

Go to www.hotwaterlobster.com and you can check out this product. I'm sorry to say I have never heard of it until now but your right, it does sound pretty good. Also, check out tankless water heaters, I've heard they are good too. Good Luck!
