I get these two confused all the time. I feel retarded for asking, but I have to know.....

Affective means something that alters your behavior, emotions, or attitude toward something. Effective means something that produces a certain effect, or result. It can also mean something that has been established (like the law is now effective as of last week.)

affective-like to affect someone is to influence them. example:
the weather will have an affect on what you wear.
effective-the outcome. like cause and effect. its like the results of it. example: it was cold today. the effect of it being cold is that i wore a sweatshirt.
dont sweat it, i confuse them a lot to.
