How to I check to see if my ESN# with Sprint is free?

I want to check to see if my ESN# is cleared so I can sell my phone. I cancelled my account with Sprint a few days ago, and I am unsure how I can know if the ESN# is available for someone who buys my phone. I want to know if they can use it with their account. Is there anyway to make sure of that?
