After cutting down two trees from the yard, I'm left with two 16 foot fresh cut walnut logs that I would like to sell ASAP. I have no idea what a fair asking price would be. I hear it's good wood for gun stock. The buyer would haul away.

It seems as though there is a local timber buyer just about everywhere in the USA. They can usually be found in the classified ads in your local newspaper or in your local Yellow Pages under "timber buyers", "loggers", or "sawmills".

Walnut can be very valuable. The price you get for yours will depend on the diameter of the trees, length of the logs, and grade of the lumber. Keep in mind that the main trunks of the trees are not the only part that is valuable. Burls and large branches are also valuable. I have sold several walnut trees over the years and once got over $2,000 for one tree. I also have a friend who bought 20 acres realizing that it had a nice stand of walnut on it. Within two weeks, he sold enough walnut to pay for the property with enough money left over to begin building a new home.

Good luck with your sale.

Call a local tree removal company, they'd probably have an idea, or at least be able to direct you to someone who does.
