I have a client who lives in a group home that I am the manager for. The Mom and sister of this guy are very vindictive, lie constantly, make up illnesses, verbally abuse staff and call my manager constantly. I've spoken to the Executive Director about it and he laughs it off. Any suggestions about how to handle this?

Sounds to me that your Director has some issues. First of all my Director protects us employees from abusive clients and families. We provide a service for the client, we're not here to be abused or maltreated. People have various issues we help them deal with and we didn't create them. There comes a time when they have to take responsibility for their actions, family included.

I would request a face to face meeting with your director and discuss a resolution to this problem. Our work is stressful enough as it is without adding intrusive moments that do not need to happen.
