The Navajo Indians were extremely helpful to the Allies in World War 2. Because Japan was able to decipher radio codes as quickly as the US could make them up, they recruited some Navajo Indians to be "code talkers" in their native language, therefore making it impossible for the code to be cracked. Try and get a peek at the movie Windtalkers with Nicolas Cage...that is what the whole movie is about.
