Why are you so fervently against abortion, yet you think abortion is okay when the woman's life is in danger? If you really thought the embryo is a baby then why would you want it killed to save the woman, isn't its life more precious because it didn't get to experience life? My friend is pro-life and she opposes abortion even when the woman's life is in danger, she says she is dissapointed that people against abortion think is okay when there is a life or death situation. For example, if you saw a baby and a woman drowning, wouldn't you save the baby? Why do you prefer the woman's life when it comes to abortion in case of life and death? I want meaningful answers and pro-choice people can answer too.

For the ones who call me a liberal or pro choice whore, you really didn't understood the question. I respect pro-life people, my friend is pro-life and she just wanted to know why pro-life people think abortion is fine when is a life or death situation. She doesn't agree with it on all situations even life or death.

Mourning the loss of an unborn child is hard, but mourning the loss of your wife is much harder. You must look at the broader scope of the family. If the woman has other children and a husband, she is a major entity in the family unit. The unborn child, although loved equally, is not as vital to that family unit. This decision might be different if no other family members exist. It's a decision that can only be made by the individuals.

All life is precious. However I do believe there are extenuating circumstances where abortion can be 'justified' (for lack of a better word). Rather than abortion, I would prefer that the morning after pill be available -since this prevents conception in the first place. And yes, any loving mother would prefer to save her baby before her own life. However in these circumstances, if a mother's life is at risk for carrying the child--most likely the child will die anyway (assuming this is prior to 24 weeks) --why not save the life you can? After 24 weeks the babys chances of survival are very good--so then it's just murder!

Your example is flawed. We would try to save the baby first, because the child is helpless, whereas the woman has a much better chance of being able to save herself. In terms of giving birth, both are helpless. The woman has no control over the complications that may kill her. And no one life is more precious than any other. At that point, it should be the decision of that family, and that woman, of whether she is willing to give her life for her child. That is why I can support abortion when a mother's life is in danger.
And what of the case when the mother already has other small children. Should she be forced to make her other children orphans? That is a decision that should be up to that family.

I am pro-life, and am willing to accept abortion when the woman's life is in danger.

Taking any life should be a difficult decision. Abortion is an act of total selfishness in any case. Since pro-lifers are still human, our selfish nature even creeps into the scenario of the mother's life being in danger. I would be heartbroken to have to ever consider a choice between my wife or child. The selfish part of me wants my wife to live because she's been part of my life for a long time but the selfless part would want the child so that it could experience life.

I'm a pro-life(ish) liberal. I think abortion is a necessary evil. I hate abortion. I think that to many irresponsible people out there it's a solution to their stupidity. When a life is in danger, or they're young, or they were trying to be safe but it didn't work, or the woman was raped. Of course they are ok to have an abortion.

And frankly, if I had a wife who wanted to have an abortion, I wouldn't tell her no. I don't know exactly how to explain my views. I won't vote against or for abortions... but I know that I don't like them. And that's all.

That'd be a hard choice to make, which one to save first? I guess I'd do whatever God gave me the sign to do at the time. I honestly can't say...I do not believe in abortion at any time for any reason. If the mother can't take care of the baby, someone will. If the mother's life is in danger to deliver the child, it should be up to the mom whether or not she save the baby. Then she will have to deal with her choice, nobody else...Good question!

I am PRO-CHOICE

Personally I disagree with it BUT! Who the hell am I to tell someone else they cannot have an abortion..........I would rather see someone get an abortion because she felt irresponsible at the time of conception THAN to see what kinda MISERABLE life this child might live if that child was born............Are all of these Pro -Life people gonna take responsibility for these other's irresponsibility and raise these poor children?????
I SERIOUSLY doubt it!

Nice generalization.

"What if" questions from liberals make me laugh.

You may not be a liberal, but you certainly are espousing a liberal bias based on this question.

You haven't seen a good answer to your question, because your question isn't a valid one. It's inflammatory, generalized and mostly based on a liberal biased belief of what "pro-lifers" think.

Ask a better question, get a better answer.

Soooo.... good luck.

Again.... You've asked a large group about a generalized thought held by specific people. If you get a "good" answer to this question I'll be amazed.

You need to find a person who actually believes what you claim they believ and ask them. Most people that I know apply a loose system of situational ethics to abortion. Both pro-life and pro-choice. Sooooo..... good luck.

im against abortion because it is murder

a fetus is a human life and it is alive by the definition scientists have assigned to life, i.e. it responds to stimulus, metabolizes energy, grows over time and has its own DNA, and so on

as such, it has no more or less value than the woman's life

decisions made in these rare cases are value judgments, i give you that, but abortion IS murder and we, as the state and society, have the same duty to protect the innocent unborn child as we do to the toddler
