My Dr. told me soy is worthless, all it does is make their spit-up stink worse. She told us to go straight to Alimentum...which has been a Godsend for us. She told us that if the baby is indeed lactose intolerant they probably won't do any better on the soy and Alimentum was the was to go. We too went through four different formulas before switching to Alimentum. It took about a week for us to see a dramatic change. It started with a little less gas each day and now our little girl is a happy gas-free little smiley gal :)
We too use Dr. Brown's and only occasionally need gas drops now. Hope this helps and good luck

I have just gone threw a similar situation with my daughter now 3 months old. She was on enfamil and at 2 weeks was very gassy and cried ALOT. The doctor said it was colic and switched her to prosobee(soy) formula. Well needless to say she started vomiting every feed and was still very gassy and crying. To make a long story short After a almost 4 weeks hospital stay at childrens they figured out it was an allergy to something in both formulas. It was a soy based allergy. She is now on a hypoallergenic formula called neocate. It could be colic if so it shoulds start to get a little better with the switch with in a week or so. If it gets worse or the baby starts spitting more and more than a normal little one then call your doctor and ask them to recheck your baby it could be an allergy. There are no bad effects from switching. It will benefit your baby if it works. It still has the nutrients your baby needs to grow and thrive. Hope I have helped in some way and things begin to look up soon.

Soy was the answer for my son. We started with Enfamil lipil with iron, then Similac, then Parents Choice, then Gentlease, then Nestle, and finally Prosobee. I can't really remember but I think we could tell a difference in a couple of days, within the week for sure. There wasn't any negative affects to switching to soy.

We switched to Similac Isomil Advance soy formula. Works miracles! No negatives. 3 days. Mayyyybe 4 tops. It will suck, but it won't take that long before your baby will be just fine. If they are fussy for more than a week, ask your doctor about it. Sometimes babies are allergic to milk based and soy based! My son was switched to soy at like 1 or 2 mos.

I used Isomil for my son for the exact same reason. Within a couple of days I saw a huge difference! Nutritionally, soy milk is as sound as regular mik. Some people say that it can cause ADHD but that is just speculation at this point and I have never seen anything unusual from it. Be prepared, it will probably make your baby's BMs turn green. But that's normal!

Both of my babies had to be on soy formula and it took about a week to really see some results. It worked for them, but u need to make sure they get some extra water, because soy can make them constipated. My kids did great changing and i hope your does too!!!!

Probably a few days to a week. You should see some sort of difference.
Ive never known any issues with switching to soy. Except maybe iron trouble... but nothing major.
