Look on Gerber's website. I often received mail from them corresponding to the age of my daughter. I got a chart that shows when most children are ready for what foods.

I do remember, from personal experience with my daughter, that going from the stage 2 gerber to the stage 3 was when she started getting bored with the stage 2 and didn't want to eat it anymore. When my mom suggested trying to move to the stage 3, she loved them! So sometimes the baby will sort of let you know.

As far as the fruits and veggies, I started giving her the dinners when I knew she didn't have a problem with any of the individual foods as far as allergies or anything. Once you've tried all the individual foods with no problems, you can move to the combined foods.

If you go to the Gerber website, they actually have a stages thing where it tells you, these foods are good for your baby if he's sitting up. These foods are good for your baby if he's a supported sitter. Crawler. Walker. Etc etc. I find this very helpful with my 9mo son, because you get so lost in things sometimes!!

Every baby is different. I knew babies that refused baby food. They went right to adult food. It was a bit funny since they got their teeth in later than I think to be normal. They sucked and slurped on apples, peas, onions, peppers....etc. Some babies stay on the little baby food until they're a year old. See what it takes to fill him up. Is he bored with what he's eating? If you just watch babies they tell you what they need/want.

As soon as he can tolerate the 2nd stage you can start them. They are just a little more lumpy to get him used to eating solids.
