ughhhh...i just went through this just recently. Someone said fabreeze the fabric spray. My old cat has been peeing and I don't know why. I hate cat peee soooo bad!!!! Anyways I used vinegar but that didn't work or it work for just one day or so. I went out and bought renuzit carpet and room deodorizer. Also I used a carpet fresh powder. For two week I would spray the area and then use carpet fresh on it. It seems like the smell is gone. I didn't think it would ever come out. My cat isn't peeing there now. I moved her cat litter box and I think that was the problem with her. I'm hoping I got it cuz I can't stand that smell. I was blaming it on one of my daughters friend cuz she lives in a trailer with about 5 cats and her house reeks of the smell. I'm so bad I just didn't think my cat would do such a thing. Well good luck to you and I know how you feel.

First thing you need to know is that urine is classified as carpet damage. 90 % of the urine sits in the under pad and that is the hardest to remove. In most cases if you can smell it, it’s pass the point of treating from the surface.
Things you will need: carpet-cleaning machine, chemical for removing urine, which you can buy at a pet store. (some people have use vinegar (one part vinegar to five parts water)
New under pad for the carpet
1/ lift the carpet where you think the urine is. You can tell from the bottom side of the carpet by the watermarks. You will need to extract the backside of the carpet with the urine remove treatment product.
2/ cut out the entire infected under pad and wash the floor with the urine treatment.
3/replace the under pad with the new stuff
4/ as you are laying the carpet back down treat the top of the carpet with the urine treatment.
5/ When the carpet is all back you will need to clean the all of the carpet with the urine treatment product. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly.
Hope this helps

Nature's Miracle (I buy it by the gallon) and a blacklight. You can find both at pet stores. If your local pet store does not have Nature's Miracle, you can ask for an enzymatic cleaner formulated specifically for pet waste or order Nature's Miracle online.
Nature's Miracle is a watery liquid containing enzymes that feed on the organisms that give urine its odor. Once you've purchased it, you would follow the directions on the container which include saturating the stain by pouring a good bit on the stain itself. Be sure to pour enough to penetrate the floor layers underneath the surface. Allow the Nature's Miracle to air dry over several weeks. It will eventually appear dry to you but the enzymes will continue working. Once you use Nature's Miracle, do not follow it up with any other cleaners so as to preserve the work the enzymes may still be doing.
A blacklight will help you find old urine stains you didn't even know about but that could be the cause of odor. Once you have it, turn out the lights and turn on your blacklight. Shine the blacklight over the floor in sections, eventually having shone the blacklight on the entire floor looking thoroughly for urine stains. The stains will show up as a very bright, fluorescent color. Once you locate them, saturate them with Nature's Miracle following the directions they've printed on the container. If you still detect an odor (which I have not experienced with Nature's Miracle and a blacklight), use more of the Nature's Miracle solution.
In my experience, Nature's Miracle is your best bet. Good luck!

Natures Miracle is the best.
If its real bad. soak with white vinegar cover area with plastic so it stays damp, it will smell awful. Then wash with carpet cleaner that sucks up the liquids. After rinsing, use the natures miracle. You reduce the effectivness of the product if mixed with a detergent.
If you have GFA heat, change your filter screen and pour vanilla extract on the clean one you put in. If you have hot water heat boil cinnamon water on your stove. I fill the radiator pans with water and a liquid potpourri.
While the cat is having this problem, go the your medical supply store. You will find chucks--disposable water proof squares and cover the areas.
If you need to replace the carpet, it is a price paid for a life-time of love and affection. sometimes the medicines at during this stage of life make it impossible for the pet to know when they are urinating. I use melatonin tea diluted for pain relief and I can avoid the heavy pain meds. Don't use capsules, just a natural tea. It calms the panic of old age symptoms, without the strain on the kidneys.

If you go to a pet store such as Pet-Smart go in and ask them. They have an enzyme specific for removing pet urine smell from carpet and furniture. It works great. It even gets the odor of a male cats spray marking his territory out.

Go to pet shop or grocery store and get spray made especially for pet stains. Lift up carpet and see if pad has odor. If you've already messed with the carpet, let it dry then shake a smal box of baking soda on it and let sit a couple of days, then vacuum.

Firstly use a biological washing powder solution (warm Water) this has enzymes in to break down the stains.
Work into stain in circular motion, then pat moisture out with a clean dry cloth.
Allow to dry overnight
If there is still an odour once the carpet is completely dry (after above steps) you can mix half a cup of bicarb of soda and half a cup of cornflower with 15 drops of essential oils, work into the carpet with a stiff brush and vacuum the next day.

Pet store or even walmart sell an enzyme cleaner that's made to remove pee- it will even work on human urine. Just follow the directions... and it's great for cats because they like to remark if they can still smell it. It's very easy to use....

Alot of people suggest baking soda on the area and then spay with a vinegar/water mix. Let stand for about an hour and wipe up with a mild soap and water.
