Abraham was a second away from cutting his son's throat because God told him to do it. What would you do if you found someone about to slaughter their little boy because they said God told them to? Praise them as a holy man?

Context. Context. Context.

Abraham lived hundreds of years before the Ten Commandments were given to Moses and the Jewish people.

Abraham lived in a society where human sacrifice and child sacrifice was the normal thing to do.

God was just beginning to reveal himself to mankind and Abraham did not have the Bible or much of anything else to go on.

Abraham knew that his son was a gift from God. If God demanded that Abraham kill the son, then Abraham, although it probably broke his heart, would do it.

Under the same circumstances (context) would we be able to follow God's will?

Under the much easier circumstances that we live in today, can we follow God's will as Jesus revealed it to us?

With the Ten Commandments, the Prophets, and especially Jesus Christ as part of our current circumstances (context), God would not put us to this test.

But we do have similar issues to tackle, like abortion where we kill our children who are miraculous gifts from God just like Isaac was to Abraham.

In abortion we sacrifice our children to the gods of lust, convenience, economy, and selfishness.

With love in Christ.

Well hello cool guy, you're leaving out the second and best half of that story. God was testing Abraham, to see how devoted he was to Him. If you don't already know, God showed up right before Abraham was about to go through with it, told him it was a test, and that He really didn't want Abraham to kill his son. That's hardcore love between man and God right there.

Remember the Son of Sam serial killer in New York? He said his neighbor's dog told him to kill those people. They sent him to the booby hatch. If Abraham were here today the same would happen to him. They were both suffering from paranoid schizophrenia.

I suppose that is why there was no one there when Abraham was willing to make the sacrifice. He had already seen God's power, trusted Him and knew God would present another sacrifice.

You might if you lived in Phoenecia about 6,000 years ago and the first person to follow Yahweh, the God of Thunder. Yahweh was testing Abraham's faith. It's in the book, look it up.

If you heard the voice of God aloud as Abraham did, you would have fell to your knees

I think you need to now and ask God to forgive you and help you find the real meanings to the bible

Well, since God no longer asks for blood sacrifices, I believe that is a moot point.
